Regular agenda items discussed at MCA-Armenia SNCO meeting





The Governing Council of Millenium Challenge Account-Armenia SNCO met at the Office of Government, presided at by GC Chairman, RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

The council discussed and endorsed the draft contracts on the first and third lots of Tertiary Canal Rehabilitation Project under the Infrastructure component of the Irrigated Agriculture activity (Package II) of MCA-Armenia Program.

The Council next discussed and endorsed a package of application and attached documents for an extraordinary disbursement under the MCA-Armenia program, subject to MCC approval. The matter was reported on by MCA-Armenia Executive Director Ara Hovsepyan.

Under the mentioned request, the MCA-Armenia expects to be allocated USD 206,767 for the next quarter (July - September, 2010) taking the total sum of quarterly assignments and extra disbursements under the 16th request up to USD 25,253,712.

The foregoing extra funds are needed to ensure sustained financing for the loan component of From Water to Market project. The total cost of said loan component will rise to USD 8.5mn to be funded by late September, 2010.

The meeting next approved the action plan on alienation of plots of land for implementation of civil work at Ranchpar 1 pump-station under the Infrastructure component, as well as the MCA-Armenia program closure action plan.

Those in attendance were briefed on the outcome of the vote on MCA-Armenia program council of beneficiaries and approved its new composition.

In conclusion, the meeting noted the progress in the strategy of irrigation and the amended monitoring and assessment plan under the MCA-Armenia program.
