Tigran Sargsyan congratulated Edmund Muskie grant recipients

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met with those Armenian students awarded the US Government-financed Edmund Muskie grant for 2010. The 15 recipients will be traveling to the United States this August to get training in the following specialties: business management, public management, public health services, library and information business, jurisprudence etc.

Welcoming those present, Tigran Sargsyan complimented the successful students and went on to stress that every effort should be made to promote high-quality education among Armenian students. The head of government said to be supportive of young people’s intellectual growth. The grant winners were also complimented by US ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch and regional director of IREX-Armenia educational programs Arina Zohrabyan.

The US State Department’s Educational and Cultural Bureau-supported Edmund Muskie grant program was launched in 1992 on the part of the Congress to assist democratic and economic development in Eurasia. 375 Armenian students have so far been awarded this grant.
