RA government delegation is taking part in the EurasEC Interstate Council sitting and CIS Heads of Government Council session



The prime minister Tigran Sargsyan-led government delegation arrived today in St Petersburg on a two-day working visit to attend the 26th session of the Interstate Council of Eurasian Economic Commonwealth (EurasEC) involving the heads of government, as well as the sitting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government. The delegation includes Chief of Government Staff David Sargsyan, Minister of Finance Tigran Davtyan, Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan, as well as the deputy ministers of finance and economy and other dignitaries.

The narrow-format meeting bringing together the heads of member- and observer-country governments at St Petersburg’s Constantinowski Palace and the discussion of cooperation priorities will be followed by a meeting of 1+2+4 format involving country delegations. EurasEC incorporates Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as Armenia, Moldova and Ukraine as observers. The meeting will be wrapped up by RF Prime Minister Vladimir Putin-hosted working dinner, followed by the session of CIS Council of Heads of Government which will discuss over twenty draft papers on the furtherance of cooperation in the fields of economy, humanitarian assistance and security. A primary focus will be placed on the economic block of interaction within the CIS framework.

The heads of government are set to discuss priority action aimed at implementing the concept note on energy-related cooperation between the CIS countries. The prime ministers are expected to ratify the protocol on stages in the formation of a common energy-electricity market. The CIS heads of government will next discuss the possibility of granting a status of central training entity to Moscow’s Geodesy and Mapping Institute in cadastral, geological and mapping matters. A special focus will be placed on war veterans’ welfare issues.

Today’s sitting is also scheduled to adopt a decision on the operations of the farming industry system. The prime ministers will also review the program of CIS 20th anniversary-dedicated actions. In conclusion, a decision will be passed on the date and the venue of the next session.
