The Prime Minister introduced two newly appointed ministers

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan today introduced to respective ministry staffs two newly appointed ministers - Minister of Transport and Communications Manuk Vardanyan and Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsyan. Concerning their appointment the Prime Minister noted: “We are getting used to working under a coalition format in the political reality. Political parties within the government nominate their representatives to ministerial posts in an effort to realize their policy line. They act from the positions of policy control and implementation. This means that the focus is toward the work of the ministries and, first of all, that of the heads of staff and civil servants, because irrespective of the appointments made by the political leadership, the ministries are supposed to provide for effective work. Serious reform is underway in the ministries - we are concretizing functions, business - processes, job descriptions – so as to be able to assess work efficiency and ensure that chiefs of staff, heads of department and civil servants are responsible for work. Their performance influences the overall performance of the ministry, and ministers should be responsible for the shared policy of the coalition. Our ministers must supervise that the principles fixed in the coalition agreement were carried out.”

Introducing Manuk Vardanyan, the newly appointed minister, to the staff of the Ministry of Transport and Communication, Tigran Sargsyan has stressed: “Manuk Vardanyan is a well-known statesman. He has shown himself as a skilled manager and an experienced person, and I feel that the ministry will have no functionality problems as Mr. Vardanyan has mastered all the techniques of good governance. Today is Manuk Vardanyan’s birthday. On behalf of all those present, I wish to congratulate him on both his appointment and birthday and express hope that this festive mood will be communicated to the staff of the ministry.”

The Prime Minister thanked the former minister of transport and communication Gurgen Sargsyan for good work: “We worked hard over the past two years together with you and Mr. Sargsyan. Following political consultations held with the leadership of Rule of Law Party, it was decided that Gurgen Sargsyan should get engaged in party work, with another representative of this party appointed to the post of minister. We wish Mr. Sargsyan productive work in the ranks of the party. Also, we are confident that he will honor the responsibilities assumed in his new capacity.”

Introducing the newly appointed minister Armen Yeritsyan to the staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the head of government said in part: “Mr. Yeritsyan is well familiar with the rules of governance which makes us hope that the change of the minister will be a smooth process. As a result of political consultations involving the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the leadership of RLP, it was decided to assign this post to Mr. Yeritsyan. I am congratulating him on appointment to the post of minister and I wish fruitful work.”

Tigran Sargsyan thanked former Minister of Emergency Situations Mher Shahgeldyan for the work done in this office by stating: “The emergence of the new ministry was not an easy task as it implied a new logic of work. Mr. Shahgeldyan lived up to the task. I am convinced that Mr. Shahgeldyan will likewise honor the new front of work entrusted to him.”

Both the former and newly appointed ministers thanked Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan for trust and kind words.
