The new system of e-government as a pledge for governance transparency and enhanced efficiency
RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Chief of Government Staff David Sargsyan introduced today the new system of e-government, in place already and operational in 25 government agencies nationwide.
Addressing the gathering, Tigran Sargsyan stated in part: “First of all, the new system will help enhance efficiency and productivity in government activities providing for transparency and proper control on the part of society which will get access to public governance. On the one hand, they will be allowed to keep track of decision-making processes and on the other hand, they will have a possibility to follow up and check the status of their letters, petitions, applications, licensing requests at any stage of processing.”
The Prime Minister pointed out that the new system will prove useful only if our citizens learn to handle it properly.
Going into the details of this newly introduced Mulberry system of e-governance, Chief of Government Staff David Sargsyan said in particular: “Transition toward the system of e-governance implies providing online public services minimizing the need for direct public servant-citizen contacts and reducing corruption risks considerably.”
Answering the questions of news reporters, David Sargsyan mentioned that a total of USD 700,000-equivalent Armenian dram was spent on this project including system introduction work, 4-year-long training and equipping of about 4000 public servants, as well as the commissioning of a nationwide web network. In conclusion, those present were shown a video clip entitled “E-government: new relationship in the system of governance.”
