RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received a delegation led by Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Manuchehr Mottaki.
Greeting the guests, the Prime Minister expressed conviction that the Iranian delegation’s present visit will give a fresh boost to the development and strengthening of bilateral ties and relations.
Mr. Mottaki stressed that the two Presidents’ previous meetings have gone a long way towards shaping a completely new atmosphere in Iran-Armenia relationships. The foreign ministries and other government agencies on either side keep in close touch providing for the furtherance of diversified ties.
Tigran Sargsyan and Manuchehr Mottaki said to be pleased with the current status of economic cooperation by highlighting the achievements in the energy, transport, road building sectors, as well as in some other areas. These achievements set an example in terms of developing and implementing such new projects and programs as may be placed on the agenda of the Armenian-Iranian intergovernmental commission. They are supposed to be taken up during RA President Serzh Sargsyan’s upcoming visit to Iran on the invitation of the Iranian President. The Iran-Armenia r/w line and joint HPP construction projects, as well as the building of a liquid fuel terminal in Armenia were cited as priority projects. The Armenian Prime Minister said that once completed, the Iran-Armenia r/w line will favor not only Armenia and Iran, but also all the countries of our region. Both sides noted that need for boosting bilateral trade which is still far from being satisfactory.
With reference to the global financial and economic crisis, the interlocutors expressed conviction that strengthened ties between the two neighboring countries and joint efforts will help cope with the existing problems and get over the global crisis.
In conclusion, the IRI Foreign Minister forwarded to Tigran Sargsyan Iranian First Vice-President Parviz Davoodi’s invitation to visit Tehran at any convenient for the Armenian Prime Minister time.
