In accordance with a decree signed by Republic of Armenia Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan on March 10, 2006, an official delegation led Republic of Armenia Minister of Finance and Economy Vardan Khachatryan will leave for Washington, United States in March 25-30 to attend the agreement signing ceremony between the Millenium Challenge Corporation and Republic of Armenia. The delegation will comprise Mr. Vahram Nercissiantz, Senior Economic Adviser to RA President, RA Minister for Foreign Affairs Vardan Oskanyan, Ambassador of Armenia to the Unites States of America Tatoul Margaryan, senior officials from RA Ministry of Finance and Economy.

On March 27, RA Minister of Finance and Economy Vardan Khachatryan and Executive Director of Millenium Challenge Corporation John Danilovich will sign a USD 235,65MN-worth agreement for implementation over the next 5 years. The signing ceremony will be attended by US State Secretary Condolisa Rice who will deliver a statement.

The Armenian program of Millenium Challenges was prepared by the Republic of Armenia Minister of Finance and Economy headed-interagency task force set up under the Republic of Armenia Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan-chaired Board of Trustees of Millenium Challenge Account.

The proposed agreement will have the goal of curbing rural poverty through sustainable growth of agricultural output in Armenia.
