The IT Development Support Council met at the Office of Government under the chairmanship of council chairman, RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan. The meeting agenda comprised discussion of the IT sector development concept, the implementation status of a number of assignments given at the previous meeting inclusive of the proposals on removing barriers to satellite dish installation and the procedure to follow in allocating free optic cables. The council also discussed the possibility of supporting the design of an Armenian-English and English-Armenian translator software package, heard the report delivered by RA Minister of Economy Nerces Yeritzyam on the events to be held this September-October under the Month of IT Technologies and a number of issues raised by the Enterprise Incubator Foundation regarding the development of IT sector legislation.

The council has approved of the concept note on the development of the IT sector as presented by RA Minister of Economy Nerces Yeritzyan. The Ministry of Economy has been entrusted with the coordination of concept implementation. The concept was said to have been developed by a task force established under a presidential ordinance, dated July 3, 2007, Ref. No. PO-113
