RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Matveichuk.

Welcoming the guest, the Prime Minister said that culture serves as a basis for the development of bilateral relations in the field of culture and in other fields. Tigran Sargsyan expressed confidence that Mr. Matveichuk's present visit and the agreements reached over the 3-year-long hectic program of cultural cooperation between the two countries will foster the development of bilateral trade and economic ties.

Vladimir Matveichuk agreed with the RA Prime Minister and went on to stress that culture offers nice possibilities for the furtherance of cooperation in various areas. Appreciative of the agreement on cultural interaction between the Armenian and Belarusian ministries of culture in 2008-2010, the minister noted that this document specifies the priorities to serve as guidelines when presenting the respective cultures in either of the two countries. He advised that Days of Belarusian Culture will be held in Armenia next year, followed by the Days of Armenian Culture in Belarus in the year 2010. The minister singled out the exchange of folkloric and ethnographic song and dance companies, theatrical guest-performances, the holding of cinema days and exhibitions of young painters' works, the cooperation between the libraries of the two countries etc. he mentioned that an arrangement has been made with his Armenian counterpart to replenish the program with new events in future.

The parties have also referred to RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan-led government delegation's departure to the capital of Belarus Minsk tomorrow in order to attend the planned session of CIS heads of government on May 23, 2008.
