RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Maud de Boer-Buquicchio.

Mrs. Buquicchio said to have had several meetings with different Armenian officials during the day. She advised that there had been discussed issues concerning the status of the proposals contained in the PACE resolution passed at the April session of the Assembly, as well as in the reports made by the EU Human Rights Commissioner and the Ago Group. She noted that there is little time left before the upcoming PACE session due to be held this June and that the Armenian authorities should strive to make effective use thereof.

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stated the authorities' eagerness to address all of the problems available as soon as possible nevertheless one cannot expect a society to undergo qualitative changes within a month's period. According to him, what matters most is that the society itself admits the necessity of living in accordance with the democratic standards and principles. The Prime Minister assured his guest that the new government of Armenia has all the political will to achieve this goal and has already made public its principles for introducing reforms in a number of key areas.
