Today the Jubilee Commission on preparations for the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Sardarapat heroic battle has held a first session, chaired by RA Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan. In attendance were the RA Vice-Prime Minister, RA Minister of Territorial Administration, as well as the ministers of finance and economy, defense, education and science, culture, foreign affairs, the RA Minister-Chief of Government Staff, the President of the RA NAS, chairmen of board of the YSU, RA NAS Institute of History, Public TV, the Chancellor of the Holy See of Echmiadzin, the Director of Sardarapat's memorial complex-museum.

To begin with, Serzh Sargsyan has noted that 4 jubilee actions are to be celebrated throughout this year, namely the 90th anniversary of the Sardarapat heroic battle and 100th birth anniversaries for William Saroyan, Catholicos of All Armenians Vazgen I and Victor Hambardzumyan. The Prime Minister prioritized the proper implementation of all these actions which are meant to constitute a series of several key events to provide an opportunity for commemorating and valorizing the role and importance of both past events and great individuals to the history of our people.

Then, the commission proceeded to the discussion of the draft program of 90-anniversary celebrations which is composed of 4 different parts: 1) cultural, educational, scientific, sporting and awareness raising activities 2) publications 3) souvenirs 4) dozens of actions covering building and improvement activities at the site of the Sardarapat memorial complex-museum to be completed by this year-end in Yerevan, in marzes and across Diaspora communities.

RA Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan instructed to hold another discussion of the draft program of action considering the proposals voiced during this session so as to submit a final version within a 10-day period by paying serious attention to the efficiency in the spending of the projected funds.
