On a working visit to the Russian Federation, RA President-elect, Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan met with Mayor of Moscow Yuri Luzhkov following a meeting had with RF President-elect Dmitry Medvedev.

Before proceeding to the discussion of the meeting agenda, Yuri Luzhkov stated his pleasure for the possibility of hosting Serzh Sargsyan and his delegation as friends and partners in Moscow again. The Mayor of Moscow congratulated Serzh Sargsyan on his convincing and important victory in Armenia's presidential elections. Yuri Luzhkov mentioned with satisfaction that, assisted by the authorities of Moscow, the relations between Armenia and Russia were developing in the spirit of strategic partnership.

RA Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan thanked Yuri Luzhkov for kind wishes and a warm welcome. He briefed the Mayor of Moscow on the post-electoral developments and the political situation in Armenia.

The parties emphasized the need for keeping up the dynamics of bilateral economic exchanges. Yuri Luzhkov stated that, as promoted by joint efforts and thanks to the operations of the recently founded House of Moscow in Yerevan, the trade turnover between the two countries experienced a significant growth over the past one year. Speaking about the development of commercial and economic ties between Armenia and Moscow, Mr. Luzhkov informed his guest of the current status of Moscow's economy and the future programs. The Mayor of Moscow emphasized the importance of establishing an Armenian wholesale outlet in the Russian capital and continuing holding "Golden Pomegranate" trade fairs in Moscow. During the meeting, an arrangement has been reached over the founding of an enterprise to process farm produce from Armenia and ensure follow-up end-product sales in the capital of Russia.

Yuri Luzhkov evoked the need for furthering the existing spiritual and cultural ties between our two countries and, in this context, prioritized the soonest possible completion of the construction of an important Armenian Church complex in Moscow. Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan said he visited the complex yesterday evening, got acquainted with the pace of building activities and expressed hope that the site would be complete next year.
