RA President-elect, Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan extended condolences on the passing of notorious scientist, RA NAS Academician Varazdat Harutiunyan. The message of condolence states in part:


"The whole life and activity of eminent scientist, outstanding public figure, RA NAS Academician Varazdat Harutiunyan was dedicated to the study of the Armenian architecture, the preservation of historical and cultural monuments in effort to hand them down to future generations. Great is his contribution to the development of the national architectural school and the training of skilled specialists. By means of his decades-long activity, several volumes of textbooks and scientific works he managed to introduce the distinctive features of Armenia's architectural patrimony across the world by substantiating its outstanding place and value on both the national and international levels. Varazdat Harutiunyan was the representative of a generation of architectures who shaped new approaches as to the conservation of the cultural patrimony.


The name and legacy of notorious scientist, skilled teacher and public figure Varazdat Harutiunyan are closely associated with the annals of Armenia's scientific and cultural patrimony."
