RA President-elect Serzh Sargsyan welcomed Special Representative of OSCE Chairman-in-Office Heiki Talvitie. First, Mr. Talvitie congratulated and wished success to Serzh Sargsyan on his election as President of the Republic of Armenia, after which the interlocutors spoke of the post-electoral processes underway in the country inclusive of yesterday's very tense situation in the capital caused by the unauthorized rally organized by the opposition and the ways out of it. Heiki Talvitie advised that the schedule of his stay in Armenia was quite hectic, including interviews with opposition forces. He stressed that both the OSCE Chairman-in-Office and himself wish the situation in Armenia to be prevented from aggravating further on and that the conflicting sides did everything to ease the tension.

Serzh Sargsyan assured that the authorities are as much interested therein and, in a bid for cooperation, from the very outset used to voice appeals for acting fully within the law and showing moderation. Notwithstanding, the instigators of those unauthorized rallies did everything to come to what we could witness on March 1. He stressed that as interested in the re-establishment of stability and public order in the country the authorities will continue making efforts to this end.
