RA Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Austrian Republic Dr Marius Kaligaris (residence in Vienna) who has been nominated Ambassador to the 3 South Caucasian republics. The Ambassador discussed with the RA Prime Minister a broad range of issues relating to the development of the Armenian-Austrian interaction in different fields and assured that, as necessary, he would be visiting Armenia more frequently in effort to further strengthen the bilateral ties. It was mentioned on either side that the Armenian-Austrian political dialog had experienced a considerable progress in recent years, which was another evidence of the two sides' willingness to deepen the existing relationship.

According to the Prime Minister, year after year, Armenia had been developing the ties with EU-member countries in the context of its European integration policy as well. Serzh Sargsyan spoke in favorable terms about the cooperation with Austria in both bilateral and multilateral formats by stressing the two sides' mutually beneficial cooperation within the international structures and Austria's well-balanced and unbiased stance as to the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

The Prime Minister of Armenia and the Austrian Ambassador emphasized the need of developing economic ties along with the political ones, supposed to be the focus of the activities of the intergovernmental commission on trade and scientific collaboration.

Ambassador Marius Kaligaris said that the latest commission meeting showed that Austrian business companies were growing in interest for Armenia's economy as evidenced by their recent activation on Armenia's domestic market. The Ambassador said to be convinced that there were wide opportunities available for the development of economic exchanges and efforts had to be made to enhance effectiveness in the use of the existing potentialities and expand trade turnover between the two countries.

During the meeting, the parties have also touched upon the process of Karabakh conflict settlement.
