RA Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan received top executives from the central apparatus of RA Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the heads of diplomatic missions and consular establishments accredited abroad who are back in Yerevan to attend the annual meeting.

To begin with, the Prime Minister said that after successful holding of parliamentary elections, good opportunities had opened up for better representation of our country abroad and creation of favorable conditions to that effect. Against this background, he noted that more active efforts should be exercised by the diplomatic corps. The head of the Government drew the attention of our diplomats on two important tasks: activation of work towards the protection of our citizens' rights and the promotion of Armenian companies' interests in other countries which implied more targeted and vigorous activity in economic matters. Serzh Sargsyan pointed out to the need of representing certain programs and new initiatives. The Prime Minister further said that our country's economic development was susceptible to be stepped up through higher involvement of major foreign companies in the Armenian economy as they might bring in their long experience in a number of specific sectors, create new jobs and promote growth of interest and sympathy for Armenia within their home countries.

The Prime Minister assured that the government did their utmost to provide good working conditions for our diplomats abroad and went on to emphasize that the bulk of the proposals formulated by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs for 2008 had already been taken into account and reflected in the draft RA State budget law. "In view of the above, the Government expects enhanced efficiency in the work to be done," - the Prime Minister said and added that while all of the tasks could not be solved at once, however, the priority ones would be given a solution in parallel to our country's economic growth.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister answered the questions raised by the diplomats, heard their viewpoints regarding the ways to achieving the proposed targets in teamwork with the Government.

In conclusion, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Ambassadors thanked the Prime Minister and the Government for constant attention and assistance received during their activity.
