RA Minister of Territorial Administration, Vice-Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received the delegation led by Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Chairman of the Organization of Physical Training Mohammad Aliabadi The delegation has arrived in Armenia to attend the opening ceremony for the Fourth Pan-Armenian Games.


Welcoming the Vice-President of Iran, RA Vice-Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan noted that the current visit was an extra proof of the close ties of good-neighborhood between Armenia and Iran, based on centuries-old relationship and the cultural - historical community of the two countries and peoples. By mentioning the importance of the reciprocated high-level visits which have increased in frequency in the recent period, Hovik Abrahamyan stressed that the upcoming visit of the Iranian President to Armenia, scheduled for late 2007, will stimulate the further expansion of cooperation between our two countries in various spheres: political, economic, cultural, as well as in the field of sports.


Having confirmed the readiness of his country to strengthen and develop mutually the advantageous and multifaceted cooperation with Armenia, the Vice-President of Iran noted that a valuable role in this area was played by the Armenian community of Iran. In particular, he pointed out to the need of furtherance of cooperation in the field of sports as evidenced by the participation of a numerous delegation of Armenians athletes from Iran in the Fourth Pan-Armenian Games.


Mohammad Aliabadi and Hovik Abrahamyan briefed each other on the current status of physical training and sport in Iran and Armenia, discussed the development prospects, relevant State policies and emphasized the importance of exchanging know-how as to the reforms carried out in this sphere in the two countries.


During the meeting, the interlocutors took the time to review some other issues of mutual interest.
