Today RA Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan received outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Egypt to the Republic of Armenia Abla Mohammad Abd-El-Rahman Osman.

The Prime Minister thanked the Ambassador for the efforts aimed at strengthening and developing the Armenian-Egyptian relationship during his tenure of office and wished every success in his future activities. According to the Prime Minister, Armenian- Egyptian ties were based on the centuries-long friendship of our two peoples and, therefore, public authorities on either side had to strengthen them year after year.

Serzh Sargsyan stressed that trade turnover fell short of the political exchanges and considerable amount of work had to be done yet to ensure that the existing potentialities were used in full.

Abla Mohammad Abd-El-Rahman Osman, too, noted that numerous instruments had been signed between Armenia and Egypt over the past few years to build up a solid legal base for cooperation, and it was high time to redouble the efforts towards the enhancement of trade turnover and promotion of economic exchanges.

In stating that South Caucasus was the gateway to Central Asia, the Ambassador of Egypt said that Armenian products might reach African and Arab countries via Egypt as his homeland enjoyed well-shaped commercial and trading ties with them.

The meeting agenda included also discussion of questions bearing on the development and implementation of investment programs. In this context, the role of the Armenian community of Egypt was emphasized on either side.

Stressing that the Egyptian experience in tourism might be quite useful to Armenia, the Prime Minister prioritized the exchange of know-how and pointed out to the need of winding up the activities of the intergovernmental commission.

In conclusion, hope was expressed on either side that the next Ambassador would be as much interested and persevering in the furtherance of the Armenian-Egyptian friendship and bilateral relations as his predecessor. Then Serzh Sargsyan asked to forward his appreciation to the Prime Minister of Egypt for having confirmed the invitation to visit his country.
