RA Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan received Chairman of CIS Executive Committee - Executive Secretary Vladimir Rushailo.




Mr. Rushailo said it was a great honor and a pleasure for him to be the first guest of Serzh Sargsyan following his assignment to the office of Prime Minister of Armenia. He noted, in particular: "We know you very well as a person who has held several posts of responsibility, has quite a long experience of work in the system of government. We are convinced that you, Honorable Mr. Sargsyan, will succeed in addressing and solving effectively the tasks faced by the Government of Armenia."







Wishing every success to the newly appointed head of the Armenian government, Vladimir Rushailo briefed the Prime Minister on the work carried out towards the preparation of the mission of CIS observers at the forthcoming parliamentary elections in our country and went on to note that that the CIS Executive Committee was well aware of the pre-election atmosphere in Armenia. He thanked the executive authority of Armenia for the constructive cooperation maintained with the observers' missions, inclusive of the representatives of CIS. He expressed hope that the government would keep on assisting the observers for the whole duration of heir mission in Armenia. In reply, the Prime Minister assured that the Government of Armenia was prepared to continue working in the same spirit of constructive cooperation and, where necessary, would assist the observers within the scope of its powers.




The Prime Minister and the Chairman of CIS Executive Committee - Executive Secretary referred to the ongoing efforts for the design of a concept note on the further development of the CIS, the preparations for the April 25, 2007 session of CIS council of foreign ministers to be held in Astana, the meeting of the Coordination Committee for CIS bodies, including the participation therein of the Armenian delegation.




During the meeting, the parties similarly spoke of the upcoming May 25 session of the Council of CIS Heads of Government to be held in Yalta. Vladimir Rushajlo mentioned Armenia's active and interested participation in the integration processes within the framework of the CIS and the productive work done in this direction. In this context, the Prime Minister stressed that our country was objectively interested in the successful completion of reforms within the CIS, the development and strengthening of cooperation and was going to continue participating actively in all these processes.




At the end of the meeting, Vladimir Rushailo reiterated to the Prime Minister his wishes of every success in the discharge of his new task of high responsibility.
