Today the RA Anticorruption Council has met at the Office of Government, presided at by council chairman, Republic of Armenia Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan.


The meeting has assessed the pace of fulfillment of the guarantees provided by the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the changes to the operating procedure of the anticorruption strategy implementation monitoring commission, as well as the question of approval of the structure of said commission account taken of the rotational changes concerning the appointment of new representatives from non-governmental organizations.


With reference to the first question of the agenda, chairman of the monitoring commission Gevorg Mheryan reported that the communication received from the OECD on December 13, 2006 was based on the answers submitted on August 22, 2006 by Armenia on the list of the inquiries made by the above-stated organization, as well as on the data collected by commission experts during their latest visit to Armenia last September and shortly thereafter. It was noted that the report included the analysis of a study on the course of performance of the guarantees provided in June, 2004. According to the speaker, the national reports to be submitted by anticorruption network countries with transition economy, inclusive of that of Armenia, should consist of 3 sections. The first section concerns the national anti-corruption strategy and public agencies in charge of the fight against corruption, the second section is devoted to the legislation and criminalization of corruption, the third section describes the systems of fair governance, in particular, the transparency in the public service and the financial control.
