The regular session of the interdepartmental working group aimed at addressing water sector issues took place

Today, the regular session of the interdepartmental working group established by the decision of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia N690-A dated 22.07.2024 to develop a strategy for the water sector, address problems recorded in the sector, and develop a program of actions arising from them was held under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan.

The participants of the session discussed the development of relations with "Veolia Jur" CJSC in the field of providing drinking water supply and drainage (wastewater treatment) services and possible options for solving existing problems. In particular, the ongoing work on the construction or reconstruction of drinking water supply and wastewater treatment systems, as well as the possibility of involving water intake from various water sources, were discussed, aiming to improve the sustainable drinking water supply and proper wastewater treatment of settlements in the city of Yerevan and the regions.

The planned projects for the construction of small and medium-sized reservoirs and their further development prospects were also discussed. The planning processes for the further work on the construction projects of the Kasakh, Yelpin, Astghadzor, Lichk and Artik reservoirs approved by the Public Investment Committee were discussed, as well as the work being carried out to study a number of other reservoirs included in the Government's 2021-2026 Action Plan.

At the end of the session, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan highlighted the need for continuous development of strategic approaches and ensuring effective investments in the water sector, giving relevant instructions in these directions.
