Arayik Harutyunyan participates in the official ceremony of canceling a stamp dedicated to the theme “UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity: Gyumri Blacksmithing Tradition”
Chief of the Prime Minister’s Staff Arayik Harutyunyan participated in the official ceremony of canceling a stamp dedicated to the theme “UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity: Gyumri Blacksmithing Tradition”. The event was held within the framework of the Yerevan International Conference “Cultural Crossroads” dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
The stamp was cancelled by the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, the Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry Gevorg Meliksetyan, the Secretary General of the National Commission of Armenia for UNESCO Davit Knyazyan, the Secretary of the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions Toussaint Tiendrebeogo, the CEO of HayPost CJSC Shushan Aleksanyan, and the President of the Armenian Philatelists Association Hovik Musayelyan.
The stamp with 500 AMD face value depicts working blacksmiths and sparks from the contact of a hammer and hot metal. The stamp also features the UNESCO logo, as the blacksmithing tradition of Gyumri is included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The stamp also includes the inscription “Blacksmithing Tradition of Gyumri” in Armenian and English.
The stamp was printed by the French printing house Cartier in an edition of 10,000. The author of the design is Vahagn Mkrtchyan.
