Session of Interagency Committee of the Republic of Armenia for oversight over the execution of the European Court of Human Rights Judgments (ECTHR) was held

On February 13 Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Mher Grigoryan chaired the plenary session of the Interagency Commission coordinating the implementation of the international obligations assumed by the European Convention on Human Rights, established by the Decision of the Prime Minister N1443-A of December 17, 2021. Representatives from the judiciary and legislator bodies were also present at the meeting. Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Grigoryan highlighted the need for a unified and coordinated effort from all stakeholders in implementing international human rights standards within the domestic legal framework.

During the session, Mr. Yeghishe Kirakosyan, Representative of the Republic of Armenia on International Legal Matters, addressed the process of execution of ECtHR judgments and decisions regarding RA and the prevailing challenges therein. Issues related to the protection of human rights in the armed forces, justification of a detention as a measure of restraint, medical negligence, medical care in penitentiary institutions, prohibition of discrimination, non-execution of judicial acts and a number of other agenda issues were discussed.

An agreement was reached to organize the future activities of the committee in subgroups, each focusing on specific issues to ensure the development of targeted solutions for eliminating and preventing the violations.
