Simon Papyan: “Audit Chamber’s findings concerned the legislative gaps in the management of hazardous waste."

Commenting on the Audit Chamber’s latest report during today’s GPC-hosted press conference, First Deputy Minister of Nature Protection Simon Papyan noted that the Audit Chamber had examined the hazardous waste management sector in the period under review.

The Audit Chamber was said to have tabled a 7-item-strong package of proposals related to the legislative gaps available in the management of hazardous waste, which the Ministry has accepted. According to Simon Papyan, the Ministry has set up a working group to draft a package of legislative amendments.

The speaker advised that the amount of 11 million dram, allocated for the management of hazardous wastes had been spent on purpose, with no irregularities detected in this respect.

Down to the breach regarding the Armenian-Japanese joint project for the use of biogas in the production of electricity at Nubarashen landfill, the Deputy Minister said it is not within the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Nature Protection of Armenia.
