Artyom Movsesyan: Air Traffic Liberalization To Help Enhance Service Quality

Armenia’s shift toward air transport liberalization will boost competition in the sector to ensure higher service quality and may promote economic growth in Armenia. This is what Head of General Department of Civil Aviation Artyom Movsesyan told the news conference at the government’s Press Center, referring to the Executive’s air transport liberalization strategy.

“The Republic of Armenia has already embraced a policy of open skies. Tenders will be invited for 3 airways, available only for Armenian carriers, with operational permits issued for up to five years. At the same time, the State will refrain from protectionism for any operator whatsoever,” Movsesyan said.

The Speaker noted that the tender winners will primarily draw on Armavia’s human resource, as they have a lot of experience and potential.

Artyom Movsesyan further advised that the government is set to liberalize air traffic with the European Union as well.
