Construction permits to be issued within 27 days

At today’s cabinet sitting, the government decided to amend the norms applicable in the sphere of construction.

By this business-friendly arrangement, the government tends to reduce the number, the duration and the cost of procedures necessary for the conduct of urban development activities. It implies greater safety from the environmental and healthcare standpoints.

According to Minister of Urban Development Vardan Vardanyan, the draft decree seeks to both simplify the existing procedures and reduce the permit delivery deadlines. As a result, developers will be safeguarded against the bottlenecks and the red-tape currently available.

In the words of the Minister, the whole process takes some 1 million drams and 137 days to complete today. After the passage of this decision, the developers will be required to fulfill a 5-7-step function phased out over a period of 27 days and spend relatively smaller amounts for the same purpose. “The process of permit issuance will be facilitated a great deal in the sphere of construction. We will have a much better business environment and less corruption risks,” the Minster said in conclusion.
