RA GA Police Submits 2015 Performance Report


Chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, the Cabinet discussed the annual performance report of the RA GA Police, which covered key activities, compliance with the Government’s action plan, priority tasks and estimated performance in 2015.

RA Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan reported that as part of those measures envisaged under the Government’s 2015 Action Plan, the Police prepared and submitted to the Government a package of draft laws on amendments to the law On Foreigners and the Code on Administrative Offences, as well as a bill “On RA citizens’ entry and exit from the Republic of Armenia.”

Priorities within the framework of the expansion of community policing was carried out large-scale work, the creation of community police base 6, the acquisition of property and equipment required for training, formation of community councils and community police officers.

The police chief said that 5 base construction works are completed, the first one will be completed soon, and another 2 are in process of construction, as to the rest of directions, activities keep going on. As another priority issue, preparatory work is being carried out in the Kotayk province featuring the overhaul of the recording unit and the reconstruction of examination and accounting department in Tavush province.

Vladimir Gasparyan also spoke about the main activities of the police in the year under review, the details of a number of structural and organizational reforms and measures.

Continued and expanded cooperation with international organizations and relevant services of foreign countries, and carry out programs to improve working conditions for police officers, refurbished, equipped and furnished with a number of police infrastructure and so on.

The Prime Minister said to be pleased with the results of the activities carried out by the RA GA Police in 2015. Hovik Abrahamyan stressed that the positive results of the reforms are obvious both for government and for the public and urged the Police to keep up the same pace.
