Armenian Economic Association Annual Symposium Kicks Off, Attended By Prime Minister
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan attended the opening of the annual symposium of the Armenian Economic Association (AEA) at Yerevan State University.
Welcoming the guests, the Prime Minister stressed the forum’s importance in terms of outlining prospects of economic development and identifying new opportunities.
“It is encouraging that the AEA has managed to bring together scientists from different countries and universities, professors, students and government officials, who are prepared to make their contribution to the development of Armenia’s research capacity in the economic and social fields. I am especially pleased that symposiums like this are attended by our Diaspora compatriots, who have been so kind to share the wealth of knowledge and experience gained in well-known international academic centers. This is a decisive factor behind the viability of this symposium,” the Prime Minister stated.
Hovik Abrahamyan hailed the full-fledged involvement and contribution brought by the Armenian Economic Association, Yerevan State University, the American University of Armenia and the Armenian-Russian Slavic University to the development of research capacity in our country.
Talking about his government’s activities, the Premier stated in part, “The Government looks forward to continued economic growth for the coming years. Our policy focus is the citizen of the Republic of Armenia whose welfare can only be enhanced through a well-developed economy, especially the private sector. The Government’s activity will be aimed at economic development based on innovative technology and large-scale investment. This symposium will deal with the challenges faced in trade, industry, finance, labor, public sector, education and other fields. They are in direct correlation with Armenia’s economy, and I am confident that the symposium’s results will help us develop a more effective strategy in the relevant areas of activity.”
Hovik Abrahamyan wished the forum fruitful work and expressed confidence that the upcoming debate will be interesting and helpful, with an atmosphere conducive to the emergence of new ideas.
Attended by Diaspora and foreign economists, the three-day symposium will discuss a broad range of issues pertaining to Armenia’s economic development and competitiveness, monetary policy, international trade, financial sector, as well as a number of other topics.
