Government Support Program For Armavir Residents Takes Effect








A regular Cabinet meeting was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

The government decided to provide AMD50.000 in lump-sum assistance to each of 1606 vulnerable families from those twenty-three villages which suffered 100% losses due to the May 12 hailstorm.

Given the fact that the size of the damage caused to arable crops has prevented the affected farmers from paying land tax and irrigation fees, the Government allocated 207 million drams to the administration of Armavir Marz.

The government has allocated another decree the administration of Armavir region of more than 7.5 million AMD to purchase a two-story house for a family villager Mrgashat Unana Mkhitaryan, consisting of 14 members.

The Cabinet approved a set of draft laws on amendments to the laws of the Republic of Armenia “On minimum monthly salary,” “On remuneration of civil servants,” “On judicial acts enforcement service" and “On State Pensions."

The first bill has been developed based on the provisions of the 2013-2017 Program of Government, as well as the need for the Republic of Armenia to honor the commitments assumed under international treaties.

The January 1, 2013 decision to increase the amount of the minimum wage by 10 thousand drams to AMD35 thousand as of July 1, 2013 makes it necessary to amend the aforementioned laws, with the minimum wage expected to double by 2017.

The government approved a bill on tax and customs exemptions to be granted under the Dilijan International School Project. The decision is meant to speed up the 40 billion dram-worth construction of the Dilijan schooling complex.

The aforementioned bills will be submitted to the National Assembly in the manner established by law.

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources was told to ensure that over AMD70,500,000 is paid from the retained profits of Ministry-affiliated State-owned companies to ArmRosgasprom CJSC as partial compensation for the cost of natural gas consumed by family benefit-eligible vulnerable households in January-March, 2013.

The government approved a strategy for progressive liberalization of air transport in Armenia. The Prime Minister instructed the Chief of General Administration of Civil Aviation by the Government of the Republic of Armenia to inform the public about the details of the concept (see separately) through the government-accredited media representatives.

In preparation for the proposed transition to digital TV / radio broadcasting system, the meeting passed a decision on the development of telecommunications infrastructure in the Republic of Armenia,

The government decided to co-finance to the rate of AMD 193.4mn the implementation of “Gyumri, CIS cultural capital - 2013" interstate program.

To help address the housing problems of Syrian Armenians living in Armenia due to the war situation in the Syrian Arab Republic, the Government of the Republic of Armenia decided to comply with the proposal of “Center for Coordination Syrian Armenians Problems” NGO on founding a New Aleppo residential district in Ashtarak.

The Minister of Diaspora was tasked to provide accurate data about the target group’s housing demand within a 10-day period, as well as to discuss with Diaspora organizations and philanthropists the possibility of extending financial support for the New Aleppo project. Corresponding instructions were issued to the ministers concerned and the competent authorities. Some 600 families have already signed in for the project and are prepared to pay 50percent of the cost price.

The Government of the Republic of Armenia relieved Suren Khachatryan from the post of Governor of Syunik Marz of Armenia according to his application.

Through another decision, the government relieved Vahe Eloyan from the office of Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
