PM Gets Acquainted With Hailstorm Aftermath Work In Armavir Marz
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan visited Armavir community of Armavir Marz of Armenia, where he was introduced to the problems faced by local farmers and the community head-drafted vulnerability lists. The Prime Minister took the opportunity to present the government’s program of relief action.
The Prime Minister informed that the upcoming June 6 Cabinet meeting will make a decision to provide cash assistance to most needy farmers on the lists drafted by community heads.
“We will reach out oil, bread, vegetable oil to vulnerable households. We will be providing targeted assistance. The National Security Council met today at the Presidency, at which President Serzh Sargsyan told us to discuss with you how we might minimize the challenges faced by the affected farms. We will provide fertilizers, fuel, seeds, along with cash assistance extended to needy farmers. We will also help you implement drip irrigation and apply networking technologies in your orchards. In addition, 50 new anti-hail stations will be installed in Armavir Marz,” the head of government advised.
The Prime Minister went on to inform that the government members have made individual contributions to the fund established at MPs’ initiative.
Coming to the credit-related problems faced by the farmers, Tigran Sargsyan urged the farmers to use the hotline set up with the Central Bank to introduce any repayment problems that might arise with the lending organizations. The farmers were assured that all loan agreements will be closely monitored to prevent shortfalls.
The Premier next called at the cultural center of Armavir to get acquainted with the conditions offered to its customers. One of the village-dwellers said that even after the recent refurbishment the Center was short of play-staging facilities. Tigran Sargsyan was asked for AMD1mn in assistance so that they could stage plays at the Center. Pledging his support, Tigran Sargsyan said he would be back in a month to watch the promised performance.
The villagers thanked the head of government for thoughtfulness and assistance.
On his way back to Yerevan, the Prime Minister went to see the hail-affected crop areas. He heard out the problems voiced by the local farmers and briefed them on the government-proposed relief program.
