Improvement of general education discussed

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan called a consultative meeting to discuss educational reform. In attendance were ministers, marz governors and stakeholder representatives.

In anticipation of the upcoming academic year, RA Minister of Science and Education Armen Ashotyan presented the pace of educational reform, the existing problems and the priority tasks. The agenda featured such issues as the need for having a unified State policy, improving the quality and efficiency in the field of general education.

In compliance with the provisions of the law on general education, internal and external evaluation schemes will be applied in the secondary schools of the Republic of Armenia enabling school rating on a competitive basis. Teacher attestation rules will be approved shortly, and the procedure for school manager certification will kick off before this end-of-year.

Summing up the meeting, the Prime Minister reiterated the need for ensuring harmonious territorial development and told those in charge to keep in focus the problems faced by community schools.
