RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan welcomed a delegation led by California University Professor Akira Ishiyama, which comprised international sister programs director Salbi Agarakyan, engineer Dan Kwachi and Armenia Program Coordinator, Professor Arthur Shukuryan.

During the meeting, the RA Prime Minister was briefed on the activities of the artificial external ear transplantations center, the achievements had over the past for years since its foundation and the future plans. Offering deaf and quasi-deaf patients the possibility of undergoing complex surgical operations associated with artificial external ear transplantations, this center seeks to become a specialized regional center in this area. As assured by the RA Minister of Health Care, this seems to be quite possible considering the center's good functional record, as well as the fact that it is unique in our region and has strong development capacity. The Prime Minister highly valued the center's successful involvement in our country by noting that the government is currently discussing the priorities for the health care sector and an eventual cooperation with this entity might propel the implementation of those ambitious programs available in the field of domestic health services.

At the close of the meeting, the Government's interested support for center development programs was emphasized on either side, including the launching of an institute specialized in ear-related operations in Armenia, the training of relevant specialists to enable a nationwide conduct of examinations of newborn children, early detection and treatment of ear diseases. To the general belief of our experts, this will help improve cure efficiency considerably.

On behalf of the Armenian government, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan expressed readiness to assist the center with its development efforts as much as possible and wished every success to the staff and executives.
