NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer has issued a statement on the presidential elections of Armenia, which reads as follows, in particular:
"I was encouraged by the initial findings of the International Election Observation Mission, which noted some signs of progress. However, concerns have also been raised and they have to be addressed. The NATO looks forward to continue working with Armenia in the framework of the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) to lend support, where we can, to the strengthening of Armenia
