Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan’s Congratulatory Remarks On Birthday Of His Holiness Garegin II, Catholicos Of All Armenians

Your Holiness,

I hope God will hear our prayers and the Armenian Patriarch will be bestowed with good health and energy to guide its followers along the path of wisdom. Today more than ever, Armenia and Armenians across the world need spiritual food. I am confident that you will make an all-out use of your wisdom to promote Christian values among Armenians.

In this fast-changing world, mankind is facing a crisis of identity due to large flows of information and developments. We, the Armenians are in a position to handle the crisis because over centuries the Armenian Apostolic Church has been a guideline to all of us wherever we might be.

Your twelve-year-long tenure was crucial to our statehood and the Armenian Church in terms of State-Church interaction as evidenced by the fact church history is taught at school to the best interest of Armenian schoolchildren.

Army-Church relationship has strengthened as the Armenian clergy pays greater attention to the Armed Forces. We enjoyed their smart procession during the military parade dedicated to the twentieth anniversary of Armenia’s independence.

This period was exceptional as regards church building efforts. Numerous churches, chapels, church buildings have been built or rebuilt in the meantime.

As a cornerstone between Homeland and Diaspora, the Armenian Apostolic Church guarantees the preservation of our identity and belief. Your patriarchal visits to Armenian communities worldwide are a strong encouragement and impetus for strengthened clergy-faithful communication.

Advocacy and preaching in the countryside and remote villages brings the church closer to its followers which is evidenced by continued church building activities and the fielding of church attendants to marzes.

Holiness,

We are sending our prayers to God, asking for robust health for you! Let the Savior safeguard you from latent threats granting you long life for the benefit of the Armenian Apostolic Church and Armenians all over the world.

Thank you.

Tigran Sargsyan
Prime Minister of Armenia
