He chaired the Armenian-Greek and Armenian-Cypriot intergovernmental commissions. He chaired the session of the Armenian-Italian intergovernmental commission in Rome. He acted from the Armenian side as the main negotiator in the negotiations of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement in 2015-2017.

1985-1987 – Military service
During his diplomatic work since 1992, he participated in the UN, NATO, OSCE, CIS summits and ministerial meetings as part of the Armenian delegations, and from 1996-2018 acted as the head of Armenian delegations in conferences held under the auspices of UN, CoE, EU and other international organizations. By the decree of the President of Armenia, he was awarded the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in 2005.
