RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Armenia Alexander Bozhko.

The meeting agenda featured discussion of issues concerning bilateral relations inclusive of economic exchanges. Concerning the preparations for the next meeting of the Armenian-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic affairs, the parties underscored the need for holding it as soon as possible. They agreed to hold the session in the fourth quarter of this year, namely in late September. Both sides stated the positive trends available in this field and noted that as coupled with many other factors the re-commissioning of the ferry-way has led to a tangible growth in bilateral trade turnover. Mutual exports, too, have experienced a significant growth over this period.

The parties also spoke about the cooperation in the energy sector inclusive of nuclear energy, in particular, as according to Mr. Bozhko, his country can forward to Armenia the wealth of experience it has built up in this area.

Alexander Bozhko asked the Prime Minister whether the Armenian authorities are going to invite engineering entities and individuals from Ukraine and other countries which assisted Armenia with the elimination of quake consequences on the occasion 20th anniversary of the 1988 December 7 earthquake. Tigran Sargsyan said that such invitations will be extended under the commemorative events' program.

During the meeting, the Ambassador took the opportunity to brief the Prime Minister of Armenia on his country's economic status and development prospects.
