Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan’s Congratulatory Message on Federal Republic of Germany National Holiday - Unity Day

Dear Mr. Ambassador,
Ladies and Gentlemen:

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Armenia and myself, I offer heartfelt congratulations to you, Mr. Ambassador and, in your person, to the people of Germany on the national holiday - Federal Republic of Germany Unity Day.

October 3 is a truly historic day, since that very day 24 years ago the age-old dream of all Germans about the reunification of the two parts of Germany became a reality. In this regard, it is worth mentioning another historic event - the collapse of the Berlin Wall - the 25th anniversary of which will be celebrated this November 9.

Dear friends, both the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany were milestone events that marked down the iron curtain, paving the way for the European continent’s progress and influencing the global developments.

Armenia is eager to develop both bilateral and multilateral relationship with Germany, including on the margins of the Eastern Partnership Program.

I am pleased to note that the 22-year-old relations between the newly independent Armenia and the reunified Germany have steadily developed and strengthened to cover new areas of cooperation.

We boast close cooperation in the cultural, educational, humanitarian, military and political spheres. We are committed to furthering bilateral trade and economic ties between the two countries.

I am highly appreciative of those technical and financial assistance programs implemented for about two and a half decades now with the German Government’s continued support.

Dear attendees,

The German Embassy in Armenia has gone a long way toward strengthening the Armenian-German relationship. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, Mr. Ambassador, the Embassy staff for valuable contribution in terms of consistent development of bilateral relations and strengthening of friendship between our two peoples. I am confident that the Armenian-German cooperation will be evolving in the spirit of friendship and mutual understanding to the benefit of our two peoples.

Wrapping up my speech, I once again congratulate you all on Germany’s national holiday. I wish you every success, and continued progress – to the friendly people of Germany.
