Distinguished Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen
On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Armenia and myself, I welcome you to Golden Apricot film festival, which has become one of Armenia’s long-awaited and important cultural events.
The Festival is growing in recognition and prestige from year to year. During all these years, over 2,000 filmmakers and critics arrived in Armenia from over 120 countries of the world to make a real holiday of this festival.
The festival is held under the motto of “Crossroads of civilizations and cultures.” It accurately reflects the geopolitical situation of Armenia and Armenia’s history along with its problems and challenges. It suggests that all the way through its centuries-long evolution, Armenia has been in favor of intercultural dialogue, religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence among peoples, focusing on the man with his concerns and destiny. It is just in this context that I want to highlight Golden Apricot’s role and importance.
The fact that this year’s edition is dedicated to famous film director of Armenian descent Sergey Parajanov’s 90th birth anniversary is a matter of great honor and a binding factor for all of us. I am confident that the organizers will spare no effort and energy to properly present the outstanding filmmaker’s artistic legacy.
Dear Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen
Hospitality and cordiality have always been inherent in our country and our people. I am convinced that you are provided with all the necessary conditions to learn about Armenia’s rich culture and national traditions, as well as to feel the hospitality of our people.
Welcoming you once again, I wish you ever new achievements and successful proceedings to Golden Apricot film festival.
Thank you.
