PM Welcomes Iranian Foreign Minister

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received IRI Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Welcoming the guest, Hovik Abrahamyan hailed the existing ties of friendship between Armenia and Iran and stressed the need to boost them ahead.

Conveying warm greetings on behalf of IRI First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri, Mohammad Javad Zarif noted that Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan’s last October visit to Iran had gone a long way toward strengthening and deepening the Armenian-Iranian cooperation.

As Mohammad Javad Zarif noted, both as National Assembly Speaker and Prime Minister of Armenia, Hovik Abrahamyan has made a significant contribution to the cause of promoting ties between Armenia and Iran.

Pleased with the high-level of political dialogue between Armenia and Iran, the interlocutors stressed the need to accordingly mark up bilateral trade and economic relations.

As they discussed a wide range of cooperation-related issues, Hovik Abrahamyan and Mohammad Javad Zarif referred to such ongoing and prospective programs as may boost trade and economic relations.

In this context, the parties made a point of the proceedings of Armenia-Iran intergovernmental commission, noting that the arrangements made at the Commission’s December meeting should be brought to life for the benefit of the two nations.

Coming down to Armenia’s membership in the EAEU, Mohammad Javad Zarif said it might help boost bilateral trade and economic relations.

The parties also discussed the situation in the region, stressing the importance of peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict and the need to ensure stability in the region.
