Tigran Sargsyan Received Vera Kobalia




Today Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received Georgian Minister of Economy Vera Kobalia. Welcoming the guest in the Government, Tigran Sargsyan was pleased to note that the bilateral meetings are held in warm atmosphere, which only contributes to finding to solutions to all of Armenian-Georgian problems.
Highly assessing the current level of relations between Armenia and Georgia, the Prime Minister expressed hope that the Armenian-Georgian Intergovernmental Economic Commission sitting, which is to be held in the near future in Tbilisi, will be another step forward in development and strengthening of bilateral relations.
"We consider Armenia and Georgia a single economic field. All the trade transportation obstacles between our countries should be removed, as it is in the best interest of our people. In this regard, with the support of the European Union, about 42 million Euros will be invested for making our country's 3 border check points in accordance with European best standards within the upcoming two years," said the Prime Minister, adding that the modern check points will allow to carry out customs clearance procedures more easily and to provide the citizens with high quality services. The Head of the Government said that the issues of creating joint check points between Armenia and Georgia will be added to the agenda of the intergovernmental commission held in Tbilisi.
In her turn, the Georgian Minister of Economy expressed hope that the issues on implementation of new joint projects in different areas will also become subject for discussion of the intergovernmental commission held November 17-18 in Tbilisi.
The sides also discussed the construction of a highway from Meghri to Batumi, which will reduce the length of the road from Iran to the Black Sea with 180 km. Issues on cooperation in IT, industry and other areas were discussed as well.
