Today RA Prime Minister A. Margaryan has held a consultation with relevant ministers, marz governors and heads of government staff departments. Meeting agenda included the discussion of the progress made in the construction and repair of marz schools as financed from the proceeds of the 2004 state budget and the review of estimates of expenditure for a number of projects to be implemented in various marzes and in Yerevan in the fields of education, culture, capital construction and others under the medium-term expenditure program. Mr. Pavel Safaryan, First Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy, reported that the spendings for maintenance of marz administrations, public health care and education, repair of regional and municipal roads had been carried out in accordance with the level specified in the state budget and the medium-term expenditure program. According to him, community subsidies were scheduled to increase by AMD3bln in FY2005 to help solve several problems facing communities. Around AMD4.6bln was going to be allocated to school repairs. Regarding this item, Prime Minister A. Margaryan has emphasized the importance of setting priorities with respect to the implementation plan.

Then marz governors took the floor to report the progress in the construction work under school building and repair, as well as infrastructure development projects funded by the 2005 State budget and additional AMD12bln allocated from the Treasury. According to them, most of this work had been completed with the others running in accordance with the established timetable. The head of the Monitoring Service and those of corresponding government staff departments who, on Prime Minister's instructions, had joined relevant ministers during recent visits paid to marzes, stated their findings of the shortcomings and outstanding issues encountered.

In closing, to address these shortcomings and provide for timely implementation of the targets set, Prime Minister A. Margaryan gave approriate instructions to all ministers and governors concerned and the head of his monitoring service.
