Today RA Prime Minister A. Margaryan has received a delegation headed by Country Director of the Millenium Challenge Account Mr. Alex Razin. The delegation has arrived in our country to discuss Armenia's proposals for support under the Account.
At the outset of the meeting, on behalf of Account President Paul Appleguard, Mr. Razin thanked the Prime Minister and the Armenian government for an expedited and accurate design of the Armenian national program. In briefing his guests on the progress of said activities and the main principles and approaches adopted by the Board of Trustees under his management, as well as by various task forces and advisory groups involved, Prime Minister A. Margaryan reiterated that the program proved in line with the goals and objectives set out in the Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper endorsed by the Armenian Cabinet for implementation. For his part, Mr. Razin introduced those present to the evaluation mechanisms used by the Account and the work to carry out upon program approval. In particular, he prioritized the establishment of new bilateral working groups which should attend to such additional needs as might arise during program finalization and its harmonization with the targets and goals set by the Account in order to have a comprehensive program ready for execution.
Prime Minister A. Margaryan noted that the Armenian government was going to submit the composition of the Armenian side of the working group in short delay and was prepared to present a clear-cut and efficacious timetable of activities, should Armenia be included in the first lot of countries eligible for support.
